As a dog photographer (who also specializes in other pets and subject matter such as families, maternity, and children) I feel confident that what I am doing is quite valuable for those who invite me to photograph for them. I know this, partially, because my clients tell me this is true. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to capture incredibly important moments for others. This session was no exception.
Don and Karen had just recently invited Daisy, a special miniature dachshund puppy into their lives and home in Austin, Texas. The session took place in and around Don and Karen's home where Daisy was comfortable and starting to build some familiarity. She was sooooo tiny (just a couple of pounds!) and Don and Karen asked me to capture this characteristic of their newest family member with my photography. The cats were adapting quite nicely and were more than double Daisy's size! I couldn't resist including them in some of the photographs.
It was a little chilly and windy the day of the session and Daisy loved burrowing into Don's jacket for warmth and comfort. The late afternoon and early evening light became a welcomed addition to the overall feeling of warmth that Daisy brought into Don and Karen's lives. I was thankful to be part of this special time!
